Dissertação/Tese PRESAS ALTERNATIVAS PARA Podisus nigrispinus (DALLAS, 1851) (HEMIPTERA: PENTATOMIDAE) - PPGCF

Os cultivos de eucalipto vêm sofrendo perdas consideráveis com pragas nativas e exóticas. Dentre os insetos daninhos destacam-se as lagartas desfolhadoras. Tal situação tem motivado o setor florestal a elaborar programas de controle mais racionais e econômicos como o controle biológico. Dentre os inimigos naturais mais estudados destacam-se os predadores da família Pentatomidae. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o desenvolvimento de Podisus nigrispinus (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) em quatro presas alternativas da ordem Coleoptera, família Tenebrionidae. Os tratamentos foram: larvas de Tenebrio molitor, larvas de Alphitobius diaperinus, larvas de Zophobas morio e larvas de Ulomoides dermestoides. Foram realizadas avaliações relativas ao desenvolvimento e reprodução deste predador, por meio de tabelas de vida. Foram confeccionadas tabelas para todos os tratamentos, exceto para o T4 que não completou o ciclo. A variável RO (taxa líquida de reprodução) mostrou crescimento populacional de P. nigrispinus em todos os tratamentos avaliados. A razão finita de aumento populacional (λ) e o tempo de geração (T) foram semelhantes independentemente do tipo de presa. A razão infinitesimal de aumento populacional (rm) foi menor quando P. nigrispinus foi alimentado com A. diaperinus (0,0384 ± 0,0096) e Z. morio (0,0214 ± 0,0103), diferindo estatisticamente do T1 (0,0615 ± 0,0119). O tempo para duplicar a geração (TD) foi semelhante entre os tratamentos T1 e T2, sendo que T3 foi inferior aos demais. Foram observadas diferenças significativas para o peso e longevidade de adultos em ambos os sexos, sendo os melhores valores conseguidos quando alimentados com T. molitor. O desenvolvimento e reprodução de P. nigrispinus foram afetados pelo tipo de presa utilizada na alimentação.

The eucalyptus cultivations have suffered the considerable losses with native and exotic pests. Among the harmful insects stand out the defoliating caterpillars. Such situation has motivated the forest sector to develop control programs more rational and economic, as biological control. Among the most studied natural enemies stands out the predators of the family Pentatomidae. This work aimed to study the development of Podisus nigrispinus (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) in four alternative prey of the order Coleoptera, family Tenebrionidae. The treatments were: T1 - larvae of Tenebrio molitor, T2 - larvae of Alphitobius diaperinus, T3 - larvae of Zophobas morio and T4 - larvae of Ulomoides dermestoides. Evaluations were carried out concerning the development and reproduction of this predator, using life tables. Tables were made for all treatments except for the T4 that has not completed the cycle. The variable R0 showed population growth of P. nigrispinus in all the evaluated treatments. The finite rate of population increase (λ) and the generation time (T) were similar, regardless of the type of prey. The evanescente rate of population increase (rm) was lower when P. nigrispinus was fed with A. diaperinus (0,0384 ± 0,0096) and Z. morio (0,0214 ± 0,0103), statistically different from T1 (0,0615 ± 0,0119). The time to double generation (TD) was similar between treatments T1 and T2, being that T3 was lower than the others. Significant differences were observed for weight and longevity of the adult in both sexes, and the best values achieved when fed with T. molitor. The development and reproduction of Podisus nigrispinus were affected by the type of prey used in food.
