PANDEMIA DA COVID-19: IMPACTO NA SAÚDE MENTAL, ESTILO DE VIDA E CONSUMO ALIMENTAR DE ADULTOS
ResumoPalavras-chave:
Nesse contexto a presente dissertação,
a pandemia (p≤0,05). A mostra final totalizou 15.372 docentes, a maioria (81,8%) mulheres,
prevalência do perfil de consumo saudável foi mais impactado: diminuição do peso (RP=1,58;

AbstractKeywords:
Susceptibility to infection by the new coronavirus, SARS-Cov-2, and the possibility of
manifesting severe symptoms is more significant in individuals with chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). These conditions are associated with the increased lethality
of COVID-19. In addition, CNCDs are the main causes of death and disability in the
population, regardless of COVID-19, a fact that can imply high expenses in the public health
system, early retirement, and absenteeism at work. However, it is known that an adequate diet
and physical exercise are the pillars of the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases, as
well as supporting the maintenance of a good immune system. In this context, the present
dissertation had two objectives: 1) To study changes in the lifestyle and mental health of
teachers from the state network of Minas Gerais/Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic, and
to verify if the changes altered food consumption. This is a cross-sectional epidemiological
study that evaluated teachers who worked in basic education (kindergarten, elementary and
high school) in state schools in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, from August to September
2020, a period in which Brazil and Minas Gerais were facing mandatory social distancing due
to the COVID-19 pandemic. And this study was part of the ProfSMoc Project entitled "Health
and work conditions among teachers of the state education network in the state of Minas
Gerais in the COVID-19 pandemic". 2) Systematically review evidence of the impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic on changes in food consumption by adults with chronic
noncommunicable diseases. Thus, this dissertation was organized into two articles, and each
one responds, respectively, to these objectives. The first identified that the COVID-19
pandemic influenced the dietary profile of basic education teachers in the state education
network of Minas Gerais in a bidirectional way, that is, it favored the practice of consuming
healthy and unhealthy foods. In addition, teachers were a group vulnerable to anxiety and
depression during the COVID-19 pandemic, most are part of the risk group for complications
from COVID-19 and there was an increase in body weight, consumption of unhealthy foods
and worsening of health. mental with the pandemic. The second article identified that from
the systematic review it was possible to conclude that social distancing more commonly
favored the practice of consumption of unhealthy foods among people with CNCD. This
group, in addition to being the group most affected by the pandemic, was also susceptible to
a negative change in food consumption, which could have an unfavorable impact on the
clinical picture of COVID-19. In view of the knowledge that diet is a risk factor that can be
modified, the articles in this dissertation may contribute to the strengthening of scientific
evidence that supports the need for special care with the diet of patients with NCDs, especially
in situations of crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
