masculino em relação ao feminino para as variáveis Peso [F (1,142) =18,980, p<0,001];
maiores que a de vigor, assim fazendo um icebrg invertido, [Tensão, (média=5,67; DP= 2,64)];
[Depressão, (média=7,51; DP= 2,53)]; [Raiva, (média=6,78; DP= 2,52)]; [Vigor, (média=3,01;
DP= 1,96)]; [Fadiga, (média=6,02; DP= 2,96)] e [C. Mental, (média=5,67; DP= 2,09)]. A
ansiedade.

AbstractKeywords:
Introduction: Mental health problems have been shown to be a major public health problem
worldwide over the years. With the COVID-19 pandemic, concern for the mental health of the
population has intensified in general. The pandemic and social distancing may have impacted
mental health, triggering symptoms such as anxiety, stress and depression across the population.
However, there are few studies in the literature that seek to assess the mental health of teachers
in the state public basic education network during the pandemic. Objective: To evaluate mental
health indicators in teachers of the state public basic education network in the municipality of
Itamarandiba-MG during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was
carried out in the city of Itamarandiba-MG, with teachers from the state education network. The
volunteers were evaluated during the face-to-face return, forming a single group (n=144).
Results: After evaluating the descriptive variables, there was statistical significance between
male and female teachers for the Weight variables [F (1.142) =18.980, p<0.001]; Height [F
(1.142) =2.770, p>0.001] and waist circumference [F (1.142) = 7.512, p= 0.007]. However, the
tests to assess depression and anxiety did not show statistical significance between female
teachers in relation to males, according to the following results: BDI [(z= -0.291; p= 0.771)];
BAI [(z= -0.466; p= 0.641)]; AGE-STATE [(z= -0.283; p= 0.777)]; AGE-TRAIT [(z= -0.094;
p= 0.925)]. However, more than half of the teachers had a prevalence of moderate or severe
symptoms (56.24% depressive and 62.5% anxious). The higher prevalence of moderate or
severe cases was in female teachers (33.2% depressed and 37.5% anxious), while male teachers
were (22.91% depressed and 25.99% anxious). Regarding the mood state, it was noted in the
present study that the average of the depression, anger, fatigue and tension domains were higher
than that of vigor, thus making an inverted icebrg, [Tension, (mean=5.67; SD= 2.64)];
[Depression, (mean=7.51; SD=2.53)]; [Anger, (mean=6.78; SD=2.52)]; [Vigor, (mean=3.01;
SD= 1.96)]; [Fatigue, (mean=6.02; SD=2.96)] and [C. Mental, (mean=5.67; SD=2.09)]. Quality
of Life was not statistically significant between genders. However, all SF-36 domains, when
compared among themselves, showed static significance, most with moderate positive
Pearson's correlation. The factors working time, age and weight showed a weak positive
Pearson correlation for depressive and anxious symptoms and mood. [Working time-BDI (r=
0.407); age-BDI (r=0.441); Weight-BDI (r=0.173); [Work time-BAI (r= 0.441); age-BAI (r=
0.432); Weight-BAI (r=0.253)]. The education factor showed a negative correlation
[Education-BDI (r= - 0.245) and Education-BAI (r= - 0.173)]. Conclusions: It found a high
prevalence of depressive and anxious symptoms, more evident in female teachers. The working
time factor is effective in worsening levels of depression, anxiety and mood. The age factor,
weight and female sex, on the other hand, are effective in worsening the symptoms of
depression and anxiety. The COVID-19 pandemic may have influenced the worsening of
results. Therefore, the factors of advanced age, female sex and long working hours, associated
with the COVID-19 pandemic, are potential for depression and anxiety disorders. Therefore,
government actions, public policies and programs for the promotion, prevention, treatment and
assistance of professionals with affected mental health are necessary.
