FOTOANODOS HETEROESTRUTURADOS DE BiVO4/V2O5 OBTIDOS A PARTIR
DA REAÇÃO DE ESTADO SÓLIDO ENTRE O Bi2O3 E V2O5 PARA USO EM
CÉLULAS FOTOELETROQUÍMICAS DE CLIVAGEM DA ÁGUA
ResumoPalavras-chave:
três eletrólitos distintos Na2SO4, NaHCO3 e Na2SO3, ambos a 1M. No escuro, o fotoanodo
formado pela sobreposição da camada de V2O5 sobre a camada de Bi2O3 (1-Bi2O3/2-V2O5)
produziu densidades de correntes de 0,74; 2,10 e 0,81 mA cm-2
em 1,23 V vs. RHE no sulfato,
carbonato e sulfito, respectivamente.
bastante fotoativo e apresentou máximo HC-STH % (half-cell solar-to-hydrogen conversion
no
sulfato e sulfito, nesta ordem.

AbstractKeywords:
The generation of fuels through sunlight has been one of the main challenges of modern society.
The average amount of solar energy that focuses only on the surface of the Earth's deserts is
approximately 7,7 thousand TW, so it is a high-incidence, inexhaustible resource and, as it is
of natural origin, it has impacts on the environment. The technology that governs the conversion
of solar energy is photovoltaic and, currently, the use of specific devices, such as
photoelectrochemical cells or PEC (photoelectrochemical cell), is highlighted; especially for
promotion, since its operation is based on the collection of sunlight through a semiconductor
that will be able to cleave the water. In this sense, the work aims to produce efficient
photoanodes based on BiVO4 and V2O5 (having Bi2O3 and V2O5 as precursors) through the drop
coating technique, pure and heterojunctions, for the water oxidation reaction. The
morphological properties were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray
dispersive energy spectroscopy (EDS), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and
diffuse reflectance (DRS) coupled to a UV-vis. spectrophotometer. The photoelectrochemical
performance was evaluated using techniques such as: cyclic and linear voltammetry,
chronoamperometry, measurements of open circuit potential (OCP), potentiostatic impedance
and stability test. The production of current density in a photoelectrochemical cell of a district
was evaluated in three different electrolytes Na2SO4, NaHCO3 and Na2SO3, both at 1M. In the
dark, the photoanode formed by superimposing the V2O5 layer over a Bi2O3 layer
(1-Bi2O3/2-V2O5) produced current densities of 0,74; 2,10 and 0,81 mA cm-2
at 1,23 V vs. RHE
in the sulphate, carbonate and sulphite, respectively. Under illumination, as current densities
increase full to 6,81; 19,00 and 21,42 mA cm-2
at 1,23 V vs. RHE. Among all the materials
studied, this heterojunction (1-Bi2O3/2-V2O5) showed the highest photoelectrochemical
activity, mainly due to the formation of the new composite, BiVO4. The XRD patterns and
Raman spectra determine the formation of monoclinic phases for Bi2O3 and BiVO4 and
orthorhombic phases for V2O5. By Rietveld refinement, he obtained a correlation coefficient
equal to 1,83. SEM images confirmed by EDS showed that heterojunctions were successfully
synthesized and by UV-vis. spectroscopy band gap of 2,38 and 2,29 eV were obtained for
BiVO4 and V2O5, in that order. The BiVO4 composite obtained by heterojunction was very
photoactive and presented maximum HC-STH % (half-cell solar-to-hydrogen conversion
efficiency) of 0,89% at 0,37 V vs. RHE. The 1-Bi2O3/2-V2O5 showed by the stability test at
7200s that the sample stabilizes with current density of 2,0 and 21,4 mA cm-2
in the sulfate and
sulfite, in that order. The results showed that the heterojunction improved the separation and
transport of charges, smoothing the recombinations of the photogenerated electron/hole pairs.
Finally, this simple PEC concept is a promising and cost-effective approach to promoting water
oxidation through sunlight
