The UFVJM graduate program in chemistry (PPGQ-UFVJM) includes master’s and doctoral degrees. The faculty is composed of 19 permanent supervisors and 4 collaborators. Students can take their courses at three of our campuses in the cities of Diamantina, Janaúba, or Teófilo Otoni (all in the state of Minas Gerais). Since the approval by the Ministry of Education in 2009, more than 120 students have completed their courses.
The research lines developed within the program’s scope are Electrochemistry and Electroanalytics, Materials Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Biomolecule Chemistry. The official language is Portuguese, but some subjects can be taught in English.
The admission of students occurs according to specific notices published every semester ( Clique aqui ). The classification of candidates includes an evaluation of the curriculum and a written exam carried out remotely by the Unified Exam of General Knowledge in Chemistry ( Clique aqui). For the doctorate, there is an additional requirement to present a research project prepared jointly or with the consent of the prospective advisor. An alternative route to admission is through the GCUB program ( Clique aqui).
Currently, most students in the program have research scholarships from the program supported by local, state, or federal agencies. The scholarship distribution is based on the grade on the entrance exam. In addition, some students receive scholarships for specific research projects developed by their advisors.
