Dissertação/Tese ALTO JEQUITINHONHA: AÇÕES DE EXTENSÃO UNIVERSITÁRIA EM EDUCAÇÃO E PROMOÇÃO DA SAÚDE SURTEM EFEITOS? - PPGSaSA

Este trabalho exibe os resultados de uma pesquisa produzida na região do Alto curso do Rio Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais. Tratou-se de uma pesquisa de opinião, de caráter quali- quantitativo, com aplicação de questionários pré e pós-ações e realização de atividades de extensão universitária em seis comunidades. Nossos objetivos foram analisar os impactos de ações de educação e promoção da saúde em comunidades ribeirinhas e identificar as contribuições dessas ações para a formação profissional de discentes da área da saúde, especificamente, avaliar estas ações, identificar o principal benefício das ações para as comunidades e analisar as percepções dos participantes da pesquisa. Os achados foram organizados em dois artigos científicos, que formaram a estrutura deste estudo. Os resultados mostraram que as ações proporcionaram acréscimos significantes na conscientização sobre a relação entre saúde humana e saúde ambiental, tendo a melhoria na educação em saúde como principal benefício para as comunidades. No contexto da formação de alunos da área da saúde, constatou-se que as ações proporcionaram o desenvolvimento de habilidades práticas, o reforço do interesse pela atuação em comunidades e a expansão da percepção do valor da extensão universitária como elemento indispensável na formação em saúde. Concluiu-se que ações de educação e promoção da saúde, orientadas pela abordagem ecossistêmica e pela educação popular, são métodos eficazes para a promoção de mudanças positivas nas comunidades e para fomentar a formação de profissionais da área da saúde mais ligados ao seu território.

This paper presents the results of a study carried out in the region of the upper reaches of the Jequitinhonha River, Minas Gerais. It was a qualitative-quantitative opinion poll, with questionnaires administered before and after the actions and university extension activities in six communities. Our objectives were to analyze the impact of education and health promotion actions in riverside communities and identify the contributions of these actions to the professional training of health students, specifically to evaluate these actions, identify the main benefit of the actions for the communities and analyze the perceptions of there search participants. The findings were organized into two scientific articles, which formed the structure of this study. The results showed that the actions provided significant increases in awareness about the relationship between human health and environmental health, with improved health education being the main benefit for the communities. In the context of the training of health students, it was found that the actions provided the development of practical skills, reinforced interest in working in communities and expanded the perception of the value of university extension as an indispensable element in health training. It was concluded that education and health promotion actions, guided by the ecosystem approach and popular education, are effective methods for promoting positive changes in communities and for fostering the training of health professionals who are more connected to their territory.
